Three times a year the Old German Schoolhouse “mini-museum” is open to the public. Step back in time and listen to the pump organ, look at the artifacts and experience what it was like to be a German settler through the museum’s storytellers. The “Celebration of Fall” at the Old German Schoolhouse will be held on Sunday, November 2 at 7 p.m.

The Old German Schoolhouse (established 1851) is part of the County Line Church’s long history in the area. They would love for anyone interested in the church’s history to come to the open house and learn more.

Traditional hymns will be sung and music will be provided by Oldies but Goodies, formerly the Sharp Creek Singers. Poetry written by James Whitcomb Riley will be read. The Legend of Hanging Rock will be shared.

About the Old German School – The school was constructed in 1887 by members of the St. Paul’s German Evangelical Church to provide religious instruction in the German language. It has been restored and now contains exhibits that interpret the history of the large German settlement that once existed in the area.

The school is located at 3995 N 1000 W or three miles north of U.S.-24 on the Wabash-Huntington County Line Road. For more information call (260) 388-4836.
