Novae LLC, one of the fastest-growing trailer manufacturers in North America and a portfolio company of Brightstar Capital Partners, held a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday, February 9 for its $35 million Markle facility.

Novae is building a 150,000-square-foot manufacturing facility to support its continued growth. The state-of-the-art facility will enable Novae to use advanced manufacturing techniques, including robotics, to increase manufacturing capacity and capabilities, the company announced.

“We founded Novae in Markle and I can’t think of a better place to build our newest and most advanced facility, proving that manufacturing is alive and growing in Indiana,” Steve Bermes, CEO of Novae, said. “We believe that adding capacity and advanced manufacturing capabilities in Markle, as well as continuing to optimize our more than 20 existing facilities around the country, will accelerate our growth and ability to provide quality trailers that serve our customers’ needs.”

“We are truly lucky that Novae continues to choose Indiana as a place to do business,” Linda Walczak, vice president, Business Retention & Expansions at the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, said in the announcement. “I’m looking forward to watching the company continue to grow. The expansion of Novae will positively impact the community and provide Hoosiers with skilled job opportunities.”

Based on the company’s plans for future job creation, the IEDC committed to invest up to $200,000 in Novae in the form of incentive-based tax credits and up to $25,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. These tax credits are performance based, meaning the company is eligible to claim incentives once Hoosiers are hired.

“The long-range planning efforts of the county’s economic development team members created the opportunity for growth at the Markle Industrial Park. It’s my privilege to offer congratulations on behalf of the Huntington County Commissioners and to thank Novae for their continuing investments in Huntington County,” said Rob Miller, president of the Huntington County Commissioners.

Michael Kinder & Sons (MKS) is the general contractor for the project with a completion date of the end of 2023.

Novae operates distinct brands including Sure-Trac, H&H Trailers, CAM Superline, Trailerman, ITI Cargo, Midsota and LOOK Trailers. Founded in 1995, Novae has grown to become the second largest trailer manufacturer and largest enclosed trailer manufacturer in North America with over 1,500 employees.
