Chapman is 2026 Chief of Flint Springs Tribe

Shown in the photo above is Charles Chapman as he is named the 2026 Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe. Lori Mickley, 2025 Chief, bestowed the honor on Chapman at Thursday’s Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe Breakfast.

The 57th Annual Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe Breakfast was held Thursday morning, June 11 at the Historic Forks of the Wabash with nearly 90 people in attendance. Charles Chapman was named the 2026 Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe in recognition of his many contributions, and his volunteer work in and around Huntington County.

Jill Jamison, Huntington County Chamber board chairperson, opened the breakfast, and welcomed those in attendance. Jamison then introduced Mel Ring, 1996 Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe, to lead in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Joe Wiley to give the invocation.

Matt Roth, Hartburg, Roth, Garrott & Halverstadt LLP, served as master of ceremonies for the event, and began his welcome by asking those in attendance to provide a moment of silence for Bob Burnsworth, 2021 Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe. Roth went on to compare many of the past chiefs to Seinfeld characters, one of his favorite shows.

Lori Mickley, 2025 Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe, talked about her year as chief, and then announced Chapman as the 2026 Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe, and recognized Chapman’s many accomplishments and contributions to the community. She thanked him for all he has done.

Chapman said, “I am honored to be among the other chiefs who went before me.” He continued, “It is rewarding to be a part of serving the community.”

The Huntington County Chamber of Commerce congratulates Charles Chapman on being named the 2026 Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe.

Each year, the Chiefs contribute to a local nonprofit organization through the Chiefs Legacy Fund. For 2026, Chief Lori Mickley selected the Parkview Huntington Family YMCA as the fund’s recipient.
