Debra Potempa

In a newly expanded role, Debra Potempa, will lead both Parkview Wabash Hospital and Parkview Huntington Hospital. As market president, Parkview Health South, Potempa will oversee care for communities throughout Parkview’s southernmost service area.

The new Parkview Health South market will further connect Parkview Huntington Hospital and Parkview Wabash Hospital to optimize care delivery.

“Deb’s leadership at Parkview Wabash and Parkview Huntington will build on the synergy that already exists between the two hospitals, their services and overall excellence in care delivery,” said Dr. Greg Johnson, regional market president, Parkview Health. “She has led Parkview Wabash Hospital since 2022 and brings a wealth of nursing and executive leadership experience to her expanded role.”

In addition, Doug Selig, who has served as president of Parkview Huntington Hospital since 2021, will become vice president of patient care services for both Parkview Huntington and Parkview Wabash.

“I know that Doug and Deb both have a heart for supporting our patients with the very best of care and creating work environments where our caregivers can flourish,” said Johnson. “I have no doubt their joint leadership will benefit our co-workers, patients and communities moving forward.”

“I am honored to take on this new role,” said Potempa. “Doug and I have already been working together, as area residents may live in one county, work in another and seek services from either hospital, depending on their needs. We will be looking to continue the hospitals’ award-winning care and provide services effectively for residents of our new Parkview Health South market, which encompasses Adams, Wells, Huntington, Grant, Wabash, Miami and Cass counties.”

Under Potempa’s leadership of the Southwest market, Parkview recently opened a multi-specialty clinic in Peru, bringing high-quality services and greater healthcare access to Miami County.

As president of the expanded South market, Potempa will oversee the efforts of nearly 700 co-workers at Parkview Wabash and Parkview Huntington hospitals.

Prior to joining Parkview, she worked for Mercyhealth, which serves northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, where she had been system chief nursing officer and vice president of hospital operations. Her extensive nursing background and operational leadership experience also includes leadership roles at Provena Health System and The University of Chicago Hospitals.

Potempa holds a Master of Science in Nursing from St. Xavier University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from DePaul University, both in Chicago. She is a board-certified nurse executive – advanced, and a graduate of The Kellogg School’s Executive Education Program for Nurse Leaders. She is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Organization of Nurse Leaders.
