Heritage Pointe residents visit Quayle Center

It’s not widely known, but it is an impressive distinction all the same. Indiana boasts the second-highest number of U.S. Vice Presidents claiming it as their primary state of residence and/or birth.

With a deep interest in our nation’s history and Indiana’s many significant contributions, residents of Heritage Pointe of Huntington were excited to visit the Quayle Vice Presidential Learning Center and Museum last week. The Center was designed to educate the public about the workings of the government, the background and meaning of state and national symbols, the background of every U.S. Vice President and more.

Brad Fuller, activity director at Heritage Pointe of Huntington said that the senior living community’s residents are very interested in U.S. history. Furthermore, he noted that many of the trip attendees recalled having been at the campaign rally that President Bush and Vice President Quayle held at the Huntington County Courthouse in 1992.

Daniel Johns, executive director of the Quayle Vice Presidential Learning Center and Museum, provided a tour and informative history presentation for the guests from Heritage Pointe of Huntington.

“This was really an interesting and informative trip, and we look forward to visiting again next spring,” said Fuller.
