The Huntington County Chamber of Commerce will hold the second in a series of three Lunch ‘n Learns to discuss the most recent studies showing how mental health plays a large role in overall wellness. The studies went on to show when surrounded by negative home and work environments, the effect on a person’s mental health can cause or worsen physical symptoms and conditions. Maintaining a positive mental health environment, both at home and work, is vital to our relationships, motivation and quality of life.

Presenting at this seminar will be Ella Keen, community educator at the YWCA of Northeast Indiana. She has done many presentations around the region and state.

Keen said, “According to recent studies, the number one cause of injury to women in the workplace is domestic violence.” She continued, “During this seminar those attending will learn how to take time to educate their staff about the dynamics of domestic violence and working with employees who may be victims of domestic violence.”

Keen went on to say, “Last year domestic violence cost businesses $9 billion in the United States including $8 million in lost employment days. This training will teach employees how to recognize a co-worker that is in an abusive situation and how to respond. We can review or help create policies on domestic violence for your business.”

Plan to join the Chamber of Commerce and learn how you can be an empowering, positive force at home and in the workplace to not only improve your life, but those around you.

This event will be held at the Faith Community Church of God, 3615 N. Norwood Road, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25. If you would like to attend this seminar, email skimmel@huntington-chamber.com. The seminar is $10 per person and includes lunch.
