The Huntington County Chamber of Commerce hosted a Student-Leadership Luncheon to connect Huntington University students with local community leaders. The event was held on Tuesday, February 3, in the Forester Room at Huntington University.

The luncheon provided students with an opportunity to network with professionals from the community while allowing local leaders to become better acquainted with the next generation of talent. Students in attendance expressed interests in fields including data analytics, marketing, accounting, finance, management, computer science and agricultural sales and marketing.

Students who participated in the event included Tiziana Rizzato, Titus Shively, Ella Herron, Owen Imel, Alicia Lira DeOliveira, Isabella Herrera and Brandon Kaufman. Community leaders who attended and shared their experiences with the students were Bryan Jennings and Jeffrey Pinnow of Reusser Design; Jim O’Donnell, retired Huntington University professor; Andrew Edmonds of Sweetwater and Terrie Feemster, of Commodity Blender. Also in attendance were Dr. Brock Zehr, associate professor of business and economics and MBA program director at Huntington University, and Steve Kimmel, executive director of the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce.

The luncheon began with introductions, during which participants shared background information and professional interests. Students discussed their career goals and post-graduation aspirations, while community leaders shared their educational backgrounds, career paths and professional advice.

Following the meal, participants divided into smaller discussion groups, allowing for more focused conversations and meaningful exchanges. Students asked questions and received guidance from the leaders, who also engaged students by asking questions of their own. Participants agreed the discussion was valuable and expressed interest in continuing the conversation in the future.

The Huntington County Chamber of Commerce extends its gratitude to the Student-Leadership Luncheon sponsor, Duke Energy, and to Jennifer Jordan for their continued sponsorship.
