By the Book will hold the annual Essay Contest for Huntington County students for 2024. The contest helps students in fourth and fifth grades in Huntington County to write an essay about their favorite By the Book lesson for the year, and how they were impacted by it.

By the Book exists to help students in third, fourth and fifth grade learn about God and His Word in what is known as the Bible Trailer. The trailer is transported each week to an area near Huntington County Community Schools, off of school grounds, and students participate with parental permission.

By the Book teachers use the Bible as their textbook with lessons designed to teach students that God created them with a plan and a purpose for their lives. God’s Word is used to teach and equip students with the knowledge to make right choices. Storybook Bibles are presented to third graders, Adventure Bibles to fourth graders and devotionals to fifth graders each school year.

Students are excited about the upcoming essay contest. By the Book hopes to partner with local businesses to provide the prizes for this contest. Last year, of the 100 participants, By the Book was able to award cash prizes for the winning essays. Over 35 prizes were given away and each entry was recognized with a small gift. All students receive participation awards.

Winning essays will be read at the By the Book Praise Celebration, May 2. The community is invited to this event at Central Christian Church at 7 p.m. If you would enjoy helping to encourage students please consider making a donation for prizes for the Essay Contest. Donors and sponsors are recognized at the Praise Celebration.

Donations can be sent to: By the Book, P.O. Box 344, Huntington, IN 46750 with “prizes” written in the memo line of the check. Contact Jennie Wilkin for more information: jjwilkin99@gmail.com or call (702) 335-9847.
