Habitat for Humanity of Greater Fort Wayne (Habitat GFW) will kick off the first of two new home builds in Huntington at 633 E. High Street, on Wednesday, November 5, at 8:30 a.m.
Construction on the home with a Triumph floorplan, at right, a one-story, three-bedroom, two-bath, 1,170 sq. ft. home will begin immediately following the press conference with help from Gerdau volunteers.
“I’m deeply grateful for the support of our volunteers and partners who help make homeownership possible for families in Huntington County year after year,” shares Jack Barlow, Habitat GFW’s Huntington Area Manager. “Safe, affordable housing lays the foundation for opportunity, stability and a stronger future for our entire community.”

One of the homes to be built this season will be The Charlotte, Habitat GFW’s first two-story home in the county. Thoughtfully planned for both space and accessibility, the 1,396-square-foot house includes four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a first-floor bedroom and bath to support universal design; part of Habitat’s ongoing partnership with AWS Foundation to create inclusive, accessible spaces for families of all abilities. The home will also feature a front porch, back patio and attached storage shed.
This Huntington build is made possible thanks to the generous support of this season’s sponsors including: Ardelle and Theresa Glaze Foundation, IHCDA, Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, Schroeder’s Automotive, Garage Experts, Bippus State Bank and Incipio Devices.
