Place of Grace, a Christian-based transition home for women transitioning from incarceration back into the Huntington community, is in need of support for flooding damages to their home.

Place of Grace had its beginnings in the fall of 2009 when a group of concerned community members began volunteering their time at the Huntington County Jail. These volunteers quickly saw a recurring pattern among the incarcerated women: many of these women did not belong in jail, but instead needed a support system to help them break free from addictive patterns that perpetuate an unhealthy and destructive cycle that is void of hope for a better future. Place of Grace began serving women in the Huntington community at the beginning of 2017.

Recently the home had major flooding due to plumbing issues. The home has received several estimates from local contractors and other professionals, which have confirmed that they need major flooring repairs to the lower level of their recovery residence along with some major plumbing repairs.

The home has not received the final estimate but was told to expect between $5,000 and $7,000 in repair.

According to management at the home, “We prepare financially for minor repairs to our residence, but the budget is not equipped to handle these large and unexpected costs. The repairs are also timely as the damage impacts the functionality and safety of the home so we must raise funds immediately to cover the expenses.”

Place of Grace is asking the local business community or anyone interested to consider partnering with them to help cover the cost of the repairs.

Management at the home said, “We are overwhelmed by and so deeply thankful for the generosity we’ve already received from many of you and greatly appreciate your consideration in partnering with us in this urgent need.”
