SBDC Offers Assistance to Small Business Owners

through Partnership with Huntington Chamber

Fort Wayne, IN – Residents of Huntington County who want to start or grow a small business can obtain assistance and advice through a partnership between the Northeast Indiana Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce.  Each month, a representative of the Northeast Indiana SBDC comes to the Huntington Chamber, located at 305 Warren Street in Huntington, to meet with interested entrepreneurs and small business owners.

SBDC Business Advisor Scot Goskowicz regularly visits Huntington on the fourth Tuesday morning of every month.  Goskowicz is a former small business owner who has years of experience in the banking industry and expertise in business financing and business start-ups.  Huntington appointments are available between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. on the fourth Tuesday and can be made by calling the Huntington Chamber, (260) 356-5300.  Appointments at other times of the month can be scheduled in Fort Wayne with the Northeast Indiana SBDC, (260) 481-0500.

One-on-one consultations with Goskowicz and other SBDC business advisors are available at no charge to entrepreneurs and small business owners.  Among the services offered are direction and assistance with funding sources, financial analysis, business plans and marketing.  In addition, the Northeast Indiana SBDC presents free workshops throughout the year and offers classes targeted to small business that are available for a nominal fee through Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW).  For a list of upcoming SBDC classes at IPFW, visit learn.ipfw.edu and click on Small Business Development Center.

IPFW hosts the Northeast Indiana SBDC, which services a nine-county region and is one of 11 SBDC locations throughout Indiana.  The SBDC is a Small Business Administration (SBA) program that meets the counseling and training needs of more than 650,000 start-up or existing business clients annually.  To learn more about the services of the Northeast Indiana SBDC, call Ken McCrory, regional director, at (260) 481-0500, or visit http://www.isbdc.org/.
