February 5th about 80 Members met to exchange information and get to know each other a little bit better. Steve Kimmel, publisher of the Herald-Press, was the Master of Ceremonies. He introduced the three presenters, Carey Johnson of the Coach House Day Spa, Gary Town of the Northeast Indiana Driving Academy and Dan Akeley with the Huntington Family YMCA.

Carey Johnson presented her new business, The Coach House Day Spa. Located at the corner of Market and Cherry Street, 54 W Market St. Huntington, IN 46750 she has a full service spa that literally can take care of you from head to toe. Whether you want to have a pedicure or a new hairdo, massage to manicure all your needs can be met in one location. Occupying the first floor of the historic building that was once the home to the Huntington Tavern during the canal days, Carey and her staff can take you away to luxury treatment. Appointments may be scheduled by calling (260) 358-5501.

Gary Town is a man on a mission. That mission is to make driving as safe as possible in Huntington. He is going to accomplish that mission by teaching his students how to drive in Indiana. Not just your high schools drivers’ education program, Northeast Indiana Driving Academy (http://www.neidrivingacademy.com/), can take the novice driver and providing them with the training needed for licensing. But they can also take the mature driver and help to restore the confidence that they might have lost due to age. Other areas of training that are yet to be tapped are advanced driving concepts such as accident avoidance and driving in severe weather conditions.

The new Huntington Family YMCA, (www.huntingtongy.org) is rising form the frozen ground on the campus of Parkview Huntington Hospital. Dan Akeley, Executive Director, let those in attendance see a glimpse of the future. The new building will house swimming pools for recreation and therapy. Additionally, there will be gym facilities and personal training opportunities. The Y’s very successful Super Stars youth program will also be continued. If you would like to literally buy into this vision of the future contact the YMCA at (260) 356-4200.
