Residents of Huntington County are fortunate to have many educational opportunities. Area schools, both public and private, provide educational opportunities for citizens in preschool through post-graduate settings. The community is served by an accredited parochial elementary school, a countywide public school corporation, satellite offices of two colleges, IVYTECH  and Indiana Institute of Technology, a university that has Associate of Science, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, and Masters degrees, and home of Huntington University a liberal arts school with several masters degrees, listed as a Best Value by "U.S. News".

Quality child care is available throughout the county. A number of churches offer both day care and preschool programs. Kids Kampus provides early childhood education through licensed child care services, a complete preschool program, and before- and after-school programs for older children. Special services are available for children with minor illnesses as well as for at-risk and developmentally challenged children.

The Huntington County Community School Corporation (HCCSC) serves the needs of children in preschool through grade twelve. Nearly 6.500 students attend the corporation’s eight elementary schools, three middle schools, and one high school. Adult continuing education programs are also available. Low student/teacher ratios enable teachers to meet the individual needs of all students.

Public elementary schools offer all children a wide range of learning opportunities. Instruction addresses the Indiana proficiencies and emphasizes basic skills. Extended learning opportunities include before-school, after-school, and summer programs.  Elementary libraries and computer labs are open to students year round. The "Book Worm" provides library service to remote areas of the county. Various opportunities in athletics and fine arts are also made available to students.

Huntington Catholic School, pre-school thru 8th grade, promotes Spiritual Growth along with the core curriculum required by the State of Indiana.

Public middle schools provide many opportunities for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. Instruction is designed to meet the needs of the adolescent learner. Students continue to build upon basic skills and explore new opportunities for learning. All middle-school students are afforded the opportunity to visit our nation’s capital. A wide range of extra-curricular and intramural programs offer students the opportunity for involvement.

Huntington North High School, an Indiana State Chamber of Commerce "Best Buy" high school, prepares students for the future. All incoming freshmen are assigned an adult mentor and a senior student mentor who assists students with personal and academic concerns. A “Block-7” schedule provides time for applied learning in vocational/technical training, Core 40 classes, and rigorous academic offerings. During the past ten years, 29 HNHS students have been named National Merit Finalists. Extra curricular activities include academic clubs, athletic teams, and fine arts clubs and groups.

The red and black uniforms of Huntington North’s Vikings symbolize a proud athletic tradition. Huntington is a member of the North Central Conference one of the oldest and most prestigious athletic conferences in Indiana.  Student athletes compete in twenty varsity sports for boys and girls in Division 5A. During the past three decades, the Vikings have earned 108 sectional titles, 16 regional titles, three semi-state titles, and two state championships.

Huntington has been a "college town" for more than 100 years. Founded in 1897 by the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, Huntington University provides diverse, high-quality programs in the liberal arts. Located on a contemporary, lakeside campus on the north side of Huntington, the private, co-educational, four-year college offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 70 academic concentrations.

Huntington University is distinguished by its academic leadership and spiritual vitality. US News & World Report consistently ranks Huntington in the top tier of Midwestern comprehensive schools. Several faculty are internationally recognized in their fields. Campus facilities are state-of-the-art. As a Christian school, Huntington teaches students to “put feet to their faith.” About 70% of resident students participate in volunteer service in the local community and around the world. The school has been listed in The John Templeton Foundation’s Honor Roll of Character-Building Colleges.

Huntington University provides many services to the local community. Its 80,000-square-foot athletic complex is available for public use, as is the RichLyn Library. The Merillat Centre for the Arts offers a wide variety of entertainment opportunities. Businesses and local civic groups make regular use of banquet and meeting facilities at the Habecker Dining Commons.
